I bet their surprised when they find out that my post was about having an affair with Jesus!!

My new favorite coffee shop

Yeap… I think someone’s topped Starbucks! We visited the new Doug’s Mugs last night with our teenagers. They even stayed open extra late just for us! We drank an assortment of yummy smoothies, hot chocolates, and coffees and were probably a little too rowdy for a coffee shop, but all the while we were treated like royalty!

The owner even walked us through the process of roasting coffee beans in his super fancy roaster, and suffered through our jokes about the coffee beans that come from Indonesian meerkat poop! By the way – that coffee is $150 an ounce!! CRAZY!!!

AND he actually called this morning to thank us for bringing our group out and offering to help us advertise for our Cake Auction this weekend! Talk about GREAT customer service!! We’ll definitely be back… so everyone go try them out! Corner of Hampton-Locust Grove Road and Hwy 155 in Locust Grove…

Things I’m thankful for today…

I’ve had a few rough weeks at work that are probably going to get worse. It’s had me stressing out quite a bit… so feel like I need to take a break and concentrate on the good for a minute. Here’s a few things I’m thankful for right now…

  • Daniel’s grandmother who graciously stepped up and covered our camp costs! WOW! I’m still blown away by her crazy act of kindness…
  • Good friends… I mean GREAT friends… their always willing to do whatever we need and never leave us hanging!!
  • The warm, relaxing thoughts of how much I’m looking forward to our cruise this fall.
  • Teenagers who will babysit a bunch of rowdy kids to help raise camp money and instead of complaining, find a way to make it fun!
  • My new Wave that’s kicking my butt!
  • Doug’s Mugs who is staying open late JUST FOR US tonight!!
  • My husband who stays perfectly calm and doesn’t look at me like I’m crazy when I have meltdowns about the dog pee and muddy paws all over the carpet!
  • Green tea – working magic for my complexion and keeping me energized at work!
  • My new blackberry which is coming in this weekend :) YAY
  • My sisters and brother who are coming in town next weekend!!!

I’m sure there’s a lot more if I had more time… but back to the grindstone :(

What I’ve Been Reading Lately…

In my quest to turn off the tv and read more, here’s a few books that I’m trying to get through. I’m posting all of this on my “Reading” page for my own information, but if you’d like to take a peak it’s okay by me…

I just finished The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini… okay so technically I “listened” to this book. I have to admit, I was SUCKED into this book within the first chapter. Such a great story about the power of friendship with a lot of twists and turns.

I’m currently reading…

  • When Men Become Gods: Mormon Polygamist Warren Jeffs, His Cult of Fear, and the Women Who Fought Back – Stephen Singular WOW! This book has absolutely shocked and saddened me. I can’t believe some of the things these women have lived through and overcame. This guy is absolutely LOONEY! Also, it gave a fairly interesting account of the origins of their religion. For the life of me I can’t figure out how anyone believes any of that stuff… too far-fetched for me!
  • The Shack – William P. Young – After hearing a lot of hype over this book, I decided to pick it up. It had me in tears and questioning some of my deep set perceptions of God and how He might see me. Obviously there are some ideas I don’t agree with in this book, but it’s always good to stretch the old noggin’ once in a while and figure out why I stand where I stand on certain things…
  • A Thousand Splendid Suns – Khaled Hosseini – also another audiobook that I’m listening to… so far seems like it’s going to be just as great as The Kite Runner.

It Actually Snowed…

Yeap it snowed in Georgia! There were even stories about thundersnow… can someone explain to me what thundersnow is???

Anyhoo… Apollo had his first experience with snow. He was so cold, his little body was shaking like crazy. He figured out he could eat the snow and that’s just about all he cared about. He wanted to go back out the rest of the day!

I miss a good snowstorm! I wish we could get a nice fluffy snow once in awhile instead of this icy, wet mess… guess that’s asking for too much!
